Mia'kate Russell has over twenty years experience working behind the camera, predominantly as a make-up and special effects artist, including as makeup department head on films such as 2040, What if it Works, Scare Campaign and Emo the Musical.

As a filmmaker with a love of all things horror, Mia’kate’s shorts have won more than 30 awards and screened at high profile festivals around the world including SITGES, Screamfest, Shriekfest, Women in Horror and many others.

Mia’kate’s work is profiled in the book ‘1000 WOMEN IN HORROR, 1895-2018’ by Alexandra Heller-Nicholas.

She is best known for her shorts Maggie May, Liz Drives, Auditioning Fanny and Swallow and Death by Muff.
